The Photographer behind the camera at Pirate Dog

My aim is to provide fun photo shoots for your animals because they are more than just a pet. They are Family!

I am happiest when out in our stunning countryside or in my studio, camera in hand, creating beautiful images for you. Your relationship and devotion to your animals, built up by spending many thousands of hours together, is quite simply amazing. And it brings me immense joy to provide you with beautiful pictures of them, to hang on your wall and treasure forever.

My name is Nik and I'm an dog, animal and pet photographer. I'm married with four grown children and have the honour of sharing my home with two rescue dogs and a parrot. Oscar, a Lagotto romagnolo, who wants nothing more than everlasting love. And food! Ella, a cheeky, blind poodle cross, probably with a spaniel, who despite her lack of sight is still the most mischievous of our pets. And Cleo, a male Alexandrine parrot. His girly name is an amusing but long story.

I started my photography journey whilst serving in the army. Learning about film photography and developing in a dark room with the regimental photographer. I've been honing my skills in the different styles of photography ever since.

My images have been printed all around the world, in books, magazines, calendars and more.

Having taken the leap to become a professional photographer in 2003, I found myself moving more and more toward animal photography. Now, I specialise in pet photography.

Pirate Dog Photography came to be when I realised I could blend two of my biggest passions, animals and photography. Three when you count my wife, Serena, because she is my photographers assistant whenever possible.
