Can my dog stay on his lead?
A large percentage of the dogs that I work with, stay on their leads. I can remove the lead in the editing process after the shoot.
My dog isn't very well behaved.
90% of owners say this. Dogs just want to run around, sniff & have fun. I am patient. I will still get some lovely images of your dog. It might just take a little longer.
How much will it cost?
I do two types of shoots. Up to 2 hours or up to 4 hours. Please see The Experience for prices and what it entails.
What time of day are the photo shoots?
Usually, early morning or late afternoon, depending on the time of year and weather forecast. Mid-day in the summer is to hot for the dogs and the light too harsh for good images.
How much should I budget?
That's a difficult question to answer. It depends entirely on how many of the final images you want to purchase and what size artwork you required.
Most clients spend around £500.
My dog usually wears a harness.
If your dog is happy to wear a collar and lead for the shoot, it would be better for the final images. However, your dog being happy and safe is the most important thing. So a harness is fine.
Where do the shoots take place?
I am happy to photograph your dog at a location of your choice. Beaches, fields, woodland or your garden.
If you don't have anywhere in mind, I can recommend a couple of nice locations. The shoot fee includes travel anywhere in Devon or Cornwall. However, I am happy to travel anywhere in the UK. Please contact me for a quote.
What will happen if it rains?
The one thing I can't control is the Great British weather. I do keep an eye on the forecast and we can make the shoot a day or two earlier or later if needed.
If the weather turns bad during a shoot and we have to end early I will reschedule for another day at no extra charge.
Do you photograph other pets?
Dogs account for most of my clientele but I enjoy photographing all pets and animals.
Should I bring toys & treats?
Anything that will make your dog happy and relaxed is always welcome on a shoot.
Should I walk my dog before a photo shoot?
Yes, please. Give them a gentle walk or play beforehand but don't overdo it. We want them bright eyes and bushy-tailed for the best results.
Do I have to do anything during the shoot?
Yes. You will be my assistant for the duration of the shoot. Helping with positioning and getting your pet to look in the right direction.
If you want to bring someone else to help also that's great.
If you prefer not to be a photographers assistant I can bring mine, but that will cost extra.
My dog has allergies to certain foods.
If your dog has allergies, please inform me during the consultation and bring along plenty of treats that your dog can eat on the day.
Anything else I need to know?
Please bring plenty of water. I will also bring some, but I would rather have more than I ultimately need.
Relax and have fun. Photo shoots don't always go to plan. We will get there in the end. The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed and compliant your dog will be.
The safety of your dog is paramount. If he gets stressed we will stop until he is relaxed and happy to continue. If in the unlikely event we have to stop completely for the day, we will reschedule at NO extra charge.
Photo shoots are relaxed and fun. Enjoy the time. Have fun with your dog and we will create beautiful pictures that you will treasure forever.
